I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Ok, so really I haven't gone anywhere to be back from but I have been a slacker on this blog. I will say though I have not been as big a slacker as the Gates family antics blog. Now THERE is a slacker for you. tsk tsk tsk Ok, back on track and to the Sunday update:

It's the last day of the month! what the crap happened??? The State Fair starts in a few short days and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not ready! The goats are ready enough but that's about it. Oh well, things will fall into place that have to and the rest I will once again vow to work on over the winter (and won't) and have ready next year (yeah right).

What else is going on you say? ummmmmmmmm... not alot. The kids have gone back to school and I miss them during the day. They will say I only miss being able to make them do work, but seriously children, How much work did you get accomplished this summer? I think we got nuttin done! what the heck did we do with ourselves! We got our first crop of hay up off our baby hay field. YAY! We dwindled the cow herd down to the 3 old cows again, 2 steers we will kill in the spring, 1 steer who is a joint thing between the lovely Carl man and us who will be killed in a couple months and then the two baby heifers windy and daisy. It's kind of weird not having the whole herd out there anymore but nice. especially nice until our baby hay is producing more and/or we get a real fence up at the farm for the cows to pasture behind.

We, or rather I, have also come to the decision that we are finally truly getting out of Nubians. I know, I know I keep saying that but can't seem to cut the final ties. This time its really going to happen. I'm even going to place tinkerbelle, the old lady. 3 breeds and the occasional grade are plenty to be getting on about. I'm quite into the consolidate and make life easier thing at the moment. Ok, so actually we will still have a few meat goats but their numbers are going to stay fairly low for awhile also. Keep enough to make Colt some market kids and have a few for us to eat.

The kids each sold a 3 year old calvey cow and Tia has spent a good chunk of her money already! She does have a lovely very nice laptop now to show for it. Now I'm waiting for her "Sim's" fixation to wear off! Colt on the other hand is currently holding onto his money and is planning to use it for Scuba stuff. I think he will have great fun learning Scuba, he is such a fish in the water.

Wednesday, Tia's long awaited guitar lessons start. She bought her guitar with her State Fair money last year and we have been waiting and waiting trying to get her into lessons that we wouldn't have to drive hours for and finally the lady I was told was very good had a opening. YAY!! Hopefully Tia likes it as much as she thinks she is going to.

Well I can't think of anything else right this second so I am off to pretend like I'm working! wooohoooo
